  • p1860 code, lockup solenoid???

p1860 code says something about the torque converter lockup solenoid PW-something.

i will do a search when i have more time. if this has been discussed before then i will understand no replies.

autos are foreign to me but im willing to dive in to the task. please elaborate more on this operation if anyone knows about it.

    thanks in advance.

    Sounds like a wiring/electrical issue.

my torque converter also makes supercharger sounding whines sometimes between 2500 to 4500 rpms or so. it got worse when i was doing alot of drive, reverse, drive reverse, etc. when i had driven in the snow.

has anyone ever fixed this problem on their car before. my car bogs every once in a while on the highway or lugs like it wont go out of lockup or something. im not too familiar with auto trannies and how they work completely so please ask me questions about its functioning.

i thought i had an exhaust leak and when i went under to listen i could hear a ticking even louder with my ear right next to the bell housing.

it made the whining noise every so often since i had my car, but last winters snow made it turn for the worse im afraid. i would like to get another good tranny and a performance torque converter but funds are very limited and i still cant legitimize putting alot of money into a car that is only worth twice as much as the tranny.

i may go junkyard with a 90 day warranty. not sure.

anyone in the WA, OR, North CA area with a 3.8 tranny?

      am now doing a search...

huh? what does B+ mean? and do i need a multimeter to do all this? i will definitely buy terminal cleaner and clean up under there a little. does anyone have any pics or definite locations of where this part is? or will i find it once I look.

my apartments dont like me to work on my car here so i have to know all about my "mission" before i start.

thanks 98camaro3.8, i just printed that out and will be reading up on it tonight.

BIG ? is it ok to drive my car with this on? like from home to school and work. about 15-20 miles per trip? my tranny wont overheat right?

and im still a little unclear of what the solenoid does. does it lockup the converter or umm.?.

ok, im thinking more so please forgive me. when i pulled out from the parking lot at schucks and my light came on is before i left the parking lot so im thinking its a 1-2 solenoid or 0-1 solenoid if there is such a thing. are there aftermarket solenoids or a cheaper set or just go with one oem or ?

That valve controls the lockup of the torque converter.

When it comes to stuff like that, I'd personally take it to a good shop to have it checked out...but I don't know anything about transmissions.

I think I'd drive it slowly to school/work, but I'd get it checked out pretty quick.

and also my 2nd gear seems to slip between shifts. it kinda sits in a reving mode at 78-80 mph. it doesnt seem like it slips, but like it is still deciding if it should go to 3rd or not.

i must say, i havent been easy on this car

not sure if i should go junkyard or get another tranny and rebuild it peformance.

any inexpensive, decent rebuild kits out their?
