Transgo kits?? shift kit or reprogram kit?

My first question is how much harder is the reprogram kit to install and is it something I really want to mess with. Does anyone else use either one and what do u think?

I am a little new at this stuff, but it looks a little complicated to install, some info on diffuculty of it would be nice as well, on top of that, your question was what I was looking for too [img]smile.gif[/img]

There is a plug and play reprogram kit. I think that it is sold my Summit Racing and others for the 4L80E tranny. It just plugs into the wires and with a flick of a switch, you can make the shifts more firm. I don't have it, but as soon as I change the tranny fluid and have money, I am going to get it. You can also get a shift kit for our trannies to do it mechanically, but then it is that way all the time.

the reprogramming sounds alot easier [img]smile.gif[/img] , I wonder if thats the one that costs 109?

The reprogramming is going to jsut firm up the shifts a little. Its like what the BMR Shift+ does, it just increases power to the tranny oil pump making it shift a little firmer. If you want to do something to your trans, buy a TransGo shift kit. THey are only ~$110 and about a $150-200 install. It will work MUCH better.

i probably will, but i just hope i dont mess the tranny up by putting something wrong, i have always been scared messing with the tranny :/ any of you non-pros that installed it, how hard it it?

actually it doesn't do anything w the pump, it cuts pulse width modulation of the pressure control solenoid, essentially increasing main line pressure. the switch kits and the transgo both increase main line pressure, they just do it in different ways.

I would actually like to know how difficult this is for an amateur too. I've been thinking about getting a shift kit for a while but don't want to pay to have it installed.
