I'm looking around the tailshaft BEHIND the tranny mount on the driverside but all I see is a holster for a long arm that exstend to the back of the car. The only wire I see period is the wire for the shifter... Whats up with this? My speedo isn't working... reading like 10 - 25 when doing 70 and 0 when I'm doing 50 and below... bounces around when I hit a bump..

VSS comes out of the computer, so a search to see which wire it is that goes into the speedometer. Somebody has posted it before.. I posted it for my car, but mines a 3.4l so it might be different.
Maybe that wire got messed up or something.<b><a href=\"http://members.cox.net/95batmobile/d86f.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Sinister Six©</b></a><br /><a href=\"http://www.sounddomain.com/id/95batmobile\" target=\"_blank\">My \'95 Bird</a><br />I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.

Try to find an AutoTap or HP Tuners or something and scan it while driving to see if the PCM knows the correct speed, indicating a problem with the gauge itself.Matt

I don't have access to a tuner or scanner, I doubt seriously if Autozone will let me borrow one...1997 Camaro RS W/T-Tops<br />All Stock / 200 HP

autozone only has a scanner to pull the codes when your check engine light is on. if it is on, you can borrow one. its part of their rental tools program. you pay a deposit and you get it all back when you return the tool. They can also pull the codes for you if the light is on. That sensor should throw a code if its the problem. however, this scanner does not do real time data, only pulls codes. if thats all you want, then by all means let them pull the codes. or rent the scanner.. the deposit is steep though, $190 up front. But again, you get it all back. if they cant find it or say they dont rent it, they're idiots. i personally work for autozone so i konw this is all accurate. tell htem to look for a black plastic case bout 10"x8"x4".. I'm pretty sure all stores rent that tool... good luck with the project...Phill<br /><br />95 camaro... need money for turbo project... <br />94 S10 Blazer - winter beater - infinity system to be installed soon<br /><br />\"The man who says it cant be done should not interrupt the man doing it...\"

Also I'm not getting an SES light or any tranny codes so could this still be the problem?1997 Camaro RS W/T-Tops<br />All Stock / 200 HP

I looked through your other posts but didn't see anyone say it was on the driver's side, but oh well.
I would've expected to see problems with the tranny shifting & an SES light if the VSS was bad, but it's definitely worth a shot.
If that doesn't work, find a scanner like I said. Not just a code scanner, but one to read data from the PCM.Matt

Also if the VSS was bad, wouldn't I get an SES light and wouldn't I have trouble getting out of 1st gear?1997 Camaro RS W/T-Tops<br />All Stock / 200 HP

you should be getting a SES light if the VSS is bad. From reading your other posts, it seems as if this could be a problem with your gauge itself. if you hit the dash, will it owrk again? have you checked all the wiring? good luck with this...Phill<br /><br />95 camaro... need money for turbo project... <br />94 S10 Blazer - winter beater - infinity system to be installed soon<br /><br />\"The man who says it cant be done should not interrupt the man doing it...\"

What wiring do I need to check? There's millions of them under the dash  and just one for the speedo... Which one is it and where is it? Also where are the grounds for the speedo?1997 Camaro RS W/T-Tops<br />All Stock / 200 HP
