• 4.10 gears

Anyone go with 4.10's before? How about some 4.56?
3.73?

Lets hear some experiences people had with these final drive ratios.

Im looking for some major accelleration, I don't plan to hit highway too often.

I doubt I will upgrade to 17's. A guy I know has a supra, its got 4.30 final gear ratio on 14's. It idles at like 4 grand on the freeway. But hell, his acclleration is monsterous.

wow... Idles at 4 grand on the freeway? Why does it idle different on the freeway then on a regular road?
Look up the meaning for the word idle.

I know a former member of this site that runs 4.10s in his V6 camaro and loves them. 4.56s are overkill though. Quite a few people here run 3.73s and like them...but I thought you already had those according to your sig?

I just bought a built Rearend that my friend has and it has 4.10's in it. His car halled ***. But it was also a Z28. Im still waiting to put it in, but if u are going to go hardcore with your car then 4.10's is the way to go

4.10's blow for top end. A stock civic would probably rape you from a 60+ roll. Off the line they are nice,,but that seems to end quickly.

haha Hawgs, his sig does say he has 3.73s.. I smell some BS
I have 3.73s in my car and I like them. At 75 mph I am at 2500rpm, just to give you an idea.
And they didn't really take much off my top end either, not as much as everybody said it would. My car used to just pull 3rd gear past 115, now it pulls 3rd gear to 100 and shifts into 4th to accelerate more

It was ~10mph. At 70 I was really doing 60. At 100 I was doing about 87. I think 50mph was about 46 if I remember right.
I got the Tech-edge Speedometer Recalibrator though, so it reads correctly

A friend of mine has a 2001 Trans am, but he has the 3.42 upgraded from 3.23, I havent a clue how the bigger ratios ride.

I don't think he is a bs'er, this was in the appearance section. http://www.cardomain.com/id/black96camaro

Looks like he has a good project ahead of him.

I didn't say anything about how many MPH you can go..If you're cruising at 70 MPH and punch it..that needle isn't going to move fast..although the 3.4 engine is also a factor in that.

You can say what would happen "in theory" all you want, but I did the swap, I noticed the difference, my friends noticed, so if you did the swap and didn't feel a gain then I'm sorry. If you havn't done the swap, you can't really talk

Actually..This post is about 4.10's and I was referring to 4.10's...not 3.73's.
