A few days ago I got in my truck and the tranny got stuck in 3rd and would not shift. When I would shift it manually, it would downshift and upshift, but would not shift on its own when in Drive. It also would not go into overdrive. The next day it was back to normal, so I changed the fluid and filter. It worked fine for a week, now today it got stuck again.
"An electronic 4L60E transmission must have clean battery cables to work correctly, because this could cause low battery voltage. If your transmission goes into limp mode it will only have 2nd&3rd gear. If this happens for a reason other than a transmission problem, disconnect the battery to take it out of limp mode. "
Ever since I did the 3800 swap, my truck has had voltage problems at idle, so I am almost positive this is the problem. I am going to try to clean up all my ground straps. I tried changing the alternator awhile ago, but that didnt change anything.
