  • Quick 5 Speed Removal question

    Kinda stuck here.
In the service manual it says to remove the T-5 transmission, then remove the bellhousing.
When I try to seperate the Trans from the bellhousing, the hydrualic clutch line that sticks out the side of the bellhousing moves and hits against the side of the bellhousing when I try to pull the trans out, causing it to bend.

Are you suposed to remove the bellhouse and the trans seperate, or together? IF its together I dont see it being possible to remove the top bellhousing bolts.....

    ideas?

Leave them together. Take it off all at once.

seperate is easier but you have to disconnect the hydraulic line from the side of the tranny, its a quick disconnect fitting.

The hydraulic quick-connect fitting that goes to the master cylinder is taken off...

The trans wont seperate from the bellhousing.
it goes apart about 1" but wont go anymore and starts to bend the quick connect thing.

use a jack to keep it even and a pry bar or something like a crow bar to pry the trans from the bell housing, yeah you can take the bellhousing and the trans. off together but like timmy said it's a real bisch!
