  • torque convertor...

my tranny started acting up sow it goes to the dealer in a few days. pretty sure its the convertor. since it might need to be replaced should i go bigger. i have 308 gears and only run like 1500 rpm at 60mph. 342 just aint in the budget for the forseeable future.

If you can't afford gears then you definitely can't affor a high stall converter.

well with a 342 lsd i would also need a programmer to adjust the computer to fix the speedo right??

Buy a used 3.42PCM from a yunk yard. They are $80-$100. Or try to find a dealer to reprogram it for Y87 packadge. Some do some don't. That should be under $100. I drove a few years with no programming. Shift points were slightly off, no biggie. Speedo I got used to.

Would the SCU2000 work? That is suppose to change the speedo and the shift points and lift the govner, but is it worth the money?

Neither the SCU nor the SLP unit fix shift points. All they fix is the speedo. It's not worth the money at all.
