I have an automatic right now and i was wondering if getting a shift kit would be worth the money...i know its not gonna be the same as a stick but will it help?

I had a trasngo stage two installed that i bought off ebay, its awesome. My car no longer shifts like a mini-van and the faster shifts make a big difference. Bit expensive but i'd say its worth it, guess it makes the tranny last longer to [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img] .

i disagree. shift kits firm up shifts by increasing main line pressure. what does this mean? it means that when the clutch packs apply (like during a shift), they are slammed against the steel plates with much greater force. and stock clutch discs for the 6-banger 4l60e are not the most hefty pieces of friction material anyway.
the trans does not slip enough to cause any damage during regular shifts. if it did you'd get the p1870 code, "trans component slipping." the clutch discs and steel plates were designed to slip a little during shifts.
if you want a shorter shift time, then a shift kit will definately help you out... but extending trans life is no reason to get a shift kit...ASE Master, L1, X1, C1. Instructor in automotive systems. 99 3800 4L60E with a few mods and a greatful dead sticker on the back window.Comment
