  • Automatic... to manual?

I have a friend who recently wrecked his camaro but his transmition is still good. Several of my friends have suggested the idea of possibly converting my automatic to a 5 speed.

Number one: How hard would this be to do?

Number two: How much would it cost? I can get the transmition off of him pretty cheap and I've been told automatic transmitions sell for a lot more than the manuals do. If I did buy the manual transmition could I make up what it will cost to convert in the selling of my old transmition?

Number three: What sort of difficulties might I expect to have from converting. Is it really going to be that difficult to make the switch?

Number four: Is it worth it? I really wanted a manual when I was out searching for my car but I just couldn't find one with everything I wanted.

Thanks in advance for your help.

c'mon guys, I need to know this info as well. I'm thinking tranny, center console, clutch, shifter... I'm sure there's some more too. what else would be needed? To get to the tranny wouldnt the engine need to be pulled out as well. This adds to the installation costs. But for real, what else would be involved in a tranny swap like this? Think its possable to even get a 6 speed?

I forgot that the computer would need to be altered or something too. So pcm work would need done, one more to add to the cost :/
