Tq converter installed, love it but... grinding noise???
Tq converter installed, love it but... grinding noise???
Got my edge installed today...went fairly smoothly... i love it! I can spin like a mofo now... no hop with the lca's/relo brackets.... and it pulls hard!
But.... at certain rpm/loads there is a strange grinding noise... if i punch it it goes away. Doesn't happen often, but a bit.
I got the street edge w/ carbon fiber internals... is there a 'breakin' period???
Thanks!
ps..going to email andre too.

Really? I didn't hear that.... is it too late? Or if I ease off the 'romping' for a while could it settle itself down?

I emailed him about the issue... he said that being a more efficient converter, it can cause other drivetrain components to make noises...and to check all bolts for tightness.
If it were the converter, he said it would always make the noise.
I will ask him about the 50lockup 'rule'

Just as a general rule of thumb let all new parts have atleast a little 50 mile warm up period. They most likely won't need it but better safe then sorry.

Took it back to my mechanic... he think it's either a rattling heat shield or exhaust somewhere.... he found a loose bolt on on of the tranny heat shields, and since tightening it, the noise is less loud and happens less frequently... but it's still there..
It's good to know it's not internal...
Anyways, next time i get out there we should have it figured out.
