  • Clutch return spring broke AGAIN!

My clutch return spring apparently was broken when I bought the Camaro new in February of 2003, but I didn't know it until it made loud noises a couple of times and a bushing fell out and the spring was replaced.

A couple of days ago I pushed the clutch in while coming to a stop and heard a spring break, and the clutch is acting the same was it was three months and 3,000 miles ago.

Is there something that could be done to stop it from breaking, or am I doomed to have the spring replaced more often than I get my oil changed? It's never happened to the Firebird in two years and 16K miles, and the Camaro is going on its third with 12K miles.

Sounds like there is something else wrong and it's causing the spring to break. You need to get the techs at the dealership to look furter into what's causing the spring to break.

I was kind of guessing there's something else wrong, but I saw a post a while back about the springs breaking fairly easily.

It has to be something else though being that it somehow happened in the first 20 miles the car was driven before I bought it.
