  • New noise - ack!

I swear, my car just craves attention.

Some time in the middle of last week my car came down with a 'tapping' noise. Before I could pull over to check things out, the noise went away.

Well, Saturday the noise came back - with a vengeance! It started as soon as I let off the gas after a full throttle pull from a light and lasted the full 20-minute ride home.

If you stand at the front of the car, you can barely hear it, same if you stand at the back - however if you stand next to the side-mirrors, it's really loud and kind of sounds like it's coming from underneath. The noise rises and falls with RPM.

I just did my LCAs and Panhard Rod . . . but I don't think that has anything to do with it. :(

I have been unable to duplicate the problem in the garage.

    Anyone?

does it rise and fall with just RPM or does it do it with speed also?

      Flexplate or a Flexplate bolt?

It rises and falls with RPM, not just speed. (If I revv it changes)

Try getting a peice of tubing and hold it to your ear and figure out where its coming from. I would try the transmission first.

CLUTCH! not sure if it's flexplate but thats what mine did when the clutch crapped out.

I've heard it can also be the oil pump. Don't know for sure if it's true but it's just a guess.

Size 9 and the car spends most of it's time sitting in the garage. ;) (I baby the thing off the track! ;) )

Okay, I drove it to work today. Noise came and went the whole way in. One minute I can hear it over the radio, next it's not there at all.

'Nother thing, granted I'm not doing full-throttle-pulls on my way to work, but it doesn't feel like there is any slip or lack of power.

                    Oh I'm so confused!
