A few months back i mentioned that I heard this weird sound from under my car whenever I would back out of my garage, then shift into drive and pull away.
After a while it sort of went away. And I never figured out what it was.
Well recently I took my car into the dealership because I had a faulty fuel level sensor (whenever my tank was half empty, the gauge would suddenly drop to "E" while I was driving -- then bounce to half, then bounce around somewhere.) and while I was there, I noticed a pretty good leak at the differential. Turned out it was a broken pinion seal and they fixed it.
Picked up my car yesterday -- and pulled out of my garage later and that "rubbing, grinding" sound was back! Could it have been what damaged my pinion seal? Don't know.
