My auto shifts outta 2nd at about 34mph and into 4th at 37mph. is this the computer adapting to my driving habits? i cant remember it doing this when i first purchased the car. (i got it used in 2000)

It probably isn't shifting into 4th, what is mostlikely happening is the same thing my A4 does. At about 35-37 mph, the tork converter locks up in third gear which causes the RPMs to be low. At about 45-47 mph is when is will shift into 4th. watch your tach, and go from 38mph up to 50mph and I'm sure you'll see the RPMs drop again. It gets a little annoying it always shifting into low RPMs, but I believe it is normal for the A4. Hope this helps
