there's 3 ways to figure out stall speed. power braking is one of them, and is usually a few hundred rpm off the true stall rating. The idea behind the tranny rebuild kits are to make the tranny components last longer. sure, u don't really need all that stuff for low hp, but u prolly won't have to ever change or replace the tranny parts again. Also, the lower cost kits are just fine for street/strip/road racing use w/o having to go for the $1200 kit. the need for a tranny cooler is based on how much heat the tranny deals with. a converter that is mroe loose will cause mroe heat, whereas a tranny that is tighter won't slip as much, causing less heat. I don't plan on needing a tranny cooler with my TC because of how efficient it is. the power will be transferred to the wheels instead of being turned into heat. I do, however, plan on changing my tranny fluid every 25000-30000 miles, just to make sure.
