  • Alternative to the Jet SCU 2000

I changed from 308 to 342 gears. I could not get any local dealers to flash the P.C.M. I ordered the Jet SCU 2000. It does not work properly. The S.E.S. light comes on and an 1870 ( trans slippage ) code is tripped. Does anyone know of a speedo recalibrator that actually works ?

The Granatelli Granspeedo is made for the 94+ cars. I don't know how it reacts to V6's though.

The only real way to overcome this problem is to flash your PCM to a VIN from a car with Y87 which came with 3.42 gears. Your dealer can do this. It's actually the cheapest way and the best way.

are you sure the settings are setup correctly, and that you have a good ground source. id say 7 times out of 10 people hook that thing up and dont have a good enough ground source. does your speedo even move and can you shift out of first?

The speedo is accurate, it shifts fine, and I have proper ground. My other driveline post on Corvette srevo 1870 code tells the whole story.

Everybody always says "check for a good ground"... i have never seen this actually be the problem. I like to think that we fbv6ers know how to wire stuff. The jet scu2000 is VERY problematic- i know more people who have had problems with it than people who havent.

I use the techedge speedo recalibrator, and it works great, except it doesnt adjust the top-speed cutoff, so the top-speed cutoff becomes 100 mph instead of 118. This is because the techedge goes after the pcm instead of before it. I'm not sure, but it may be possible to find a way to make it go before the pcm though.
