I was wondering if anyone can tell me a little something about my car, my model is FS87 YAJ and for a rear end i have a GU4(3.08) i power braked my car a little bit ago and left two nice azz black strips going straight forward, shouldnt it have been only 1 black mark?

    Not always.

Depending on the amount of traction or lack there of really. An open rear can spin both tires in certain instances.

Under hard acceleration however you won't launch with the benefit of both tires gripping.

My mustang did the same thing at Nino's old-place. And I know for certain it has 3.00:1 open rear. Lit up both tires to beat the band though. Got up to a redlined second gear burnout. T'was cool.

If you bought your car used, no one on this board can tell you about your car really...the previous owner could have done any number of things to it. It is still possible to spin both tires without a LSD.

i just bought it about 3 weeks ago, interior is mint !! no rips ,tears, burns etc etc. just hit 100k miles, runs good. i highly doubt it was abused or if it was they did a good job cleaning it. I thought i would get just a 1 wheel burnout andf tonight a did a smoke show for some friends behind me in an explorer, sorry for the rubber on your grill Ricky :D

If you jack up the rear end, I believe if you have an LSD, when you spin one wheel, the other should turn in the opposite direction.

I have an open diff and if you jack up the azz end and spin one wheel the other goes in the oposite, so that doesn't work to tell.

With an open diff if both tires have an equal amount of traction they both spin at the same rate. So in your case neither wheel had better tractions to they both got power. Once one wheel gets better traction it stops spinning and the one with a less amount of traction keeps spinning (which sucks when one tire is on ice and one is on pavement).

I am looking forward to getting an LSD both for performance and driving in the snow (I live in Omaha, so it is a concern...although I did just fine last winter in the snow with my open diff).

if you have posi don't both tires go in the same dirrection when you spin one? then if he thinks has posi and he jacks it up and they spin the same direction he deffinately has Posi. hope you do man

Honestly, don't expect a huge difference in snow. F-bodies, pure and simple, do not work with the snow . Instead of one tire spinning with no control, now you'll have 2 spinning.
