I emailed a guy on the Fast Toys website last week about a converter suitable for my 2001 3.8 V6 Bird. I have some mods and I'm looking to get a converter around the 2600 stall. Whats the stock stall on our cars? I thought it was 1800-1900. Anyway here is his reply. Any comments?

Jeff,

Unfortunately, the V6 cars already come with a higher stall converter than
the V8. It is very difficult to get any more stall speed out of the V6
converters unless you go to a smaller, more expensive unit.

Anywhere from 1800 to 2200 on the newer cars is typical.

What he's saying is getting your factory converter re-stalled isn't as practical as if you had a v8.

YOu have 4 choices.

1. PI Vigilante
2. Yank custom
3. Edge
4. Restall yours.

I would do 1, 2 or 3 before 4

Cool...another option and it's affordable
What are the specs? Str? Efficiency?

So you spin alot more? Street or slicks?

Thanks for having that info handy Cody! Saved me having to call to find it. We are Texas Speed and Performance, you might have seen or heard of us on LS1tech, or Ls1.com, or several others. We are waiting for the admins so that we can get setup as sponsors here, and we will see about running a special on convertors IF there is enough interest. Feel free to e-mail me anytime with questions, comments, or just something you'd likew to see on a GP or special once we are setup as sponsors in the next few days! matt@texas-speed.com

I talked to Andre at Edge Racing and he said he could get me a 2.5 str, 96.8% eff., and between 2800-3200 stall for $450. the balance of str and efficiency should be based on the gears you have in the back. if you already have higher gears like 3.73's or 4.11's, then the converter will have less STR and more efficiency since the gears act as torque multipliers anyway. if you have lower gears, they will add more STR and reduce efficiency since your rpms are already gonna get the car good mileage, and you'd need mroe STR to launch w/ those gears. I happen to have 3.42's, and figured a balanced TC would be best, that's why I'm lookin at 2.5 str and 96.8% efficiency.
