A torque converter basically is what your RPM's are at when you move. Stock is about 1800 stall which means your RPM's ahve to go to 1800 before your car will start to accelerate. If you go with a 2200 you will not notice much difference, but with a 2800 - 3000 you will notice a big difference in your take-off.
