I have been trying to deside which type of shifter or shift kit to get for my next mod. I am fed up with the extreamly long throw of the camaro.

FWIW... B&M Ripper, Hurst, and Pro 5.0 are pretty much all the same. Just choose the one you might happen to like better. Also, you can do a search and find many posts about this same thing.Matt

Guys, i have read up on the ripper and the Hurst Billet shifter and the only thing I dont like is the length of the B&M. It is almost as long as the stock shifter. What do you think beings you guys have the B&M Ripper. Does the length make that big of a differenceMidnight Blue 2002 Camaro
Flowmaster with a K&N and wisper lid.

The length of the Ripper doesn't bother me in the least. The throws are much shorter, and feel a whole lot more solid.Matt

the length hasn't bothered me yet... in fact i was glad that i didn't get a shorter one because i feel like a shorter stick would yield me less control over which gear i'm picking. for me, it's perfect.
like 98 camaro said, the throws are so much shorter and the shifter is so much more solidly constructed you'll be glad you got the B&M.
the problem i potentially see with the hurst and the ability to put a short stick on there is the fact that it's attached with bolts. very weak point in the shifter right there, which would make me want to be a lot more ginger with it. the nice thing about the ripper is that it RIPS as advertised :D

Length isn't a problem on the B&M.....if you want a car with a short stick stock, check out a Miata :D
I like my B&M, but I'd like to have a Pro 5.0 sometime to compare the two.2001 Onyx Black Camaro M5-Totalled
2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L

\"To make peace, prepare for war.\"

OT:
Stock short throw? The S2000 is tiny. I was sure I was still in neutral when in fact I had dropped it into second..Drivetrain Moderator - "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people!"

???
This is certainly not an issue. I've had my Hurst w/Short Stick for upwards of two years without problems. I know more than a few members here have the same setup and I've never heard that be an issue.

Ummmm, no. The stock V8 shifter comes with the two bolts to hold it on as well as the factory hurst, aftermarket hurst, and pro 5.0. I have a Pro 5.0 and have NEVER had problems with the bolts. All you have to do is crank them down nice and tight. After all, there's no way you can even shift that hard, and if you did, you'd probably break the tranny too.
I had the Ripper in my V6 camaro and liked it, but I like the Pro 5.0 in my TA better. I was able to cut the Pro 5.0 handle down quite a bit and the shifter is a lot shorter then my factory hurst one.
