  • the 3.42 question again...

im want to change my gear ratio as cheaply as possible. I know i gan get the ring and pinion off ebay for cheap.... who can i get to install it? What kind of prices should i look for as far as the install goes? They should just be able to switch out the ring and pinion for me and I won't need any other parts will I?

it's pretty expensive...you're looking at anywhere between $250-$400. and you might have to buy a couple of needed things like lubricants and such...but if you take it to a pro they'll add all that crap in the price...just make sure they'll program it for you. if not you can always head to the dealership and they'll do it for ya for pretty cheap. but, i wouldn't go into this project unless you are planning on spending about $500 or so...

300 isnt bad... but would it be that much even without lsd or anything else being installed?

Wow...thats pricey. I was quoted $200 for LSD/gears install with reprogram/fluids. And it isn't some hole in the wall place...its a pretty reputable place.

I paid my dealershop 2hours labor ($120) to do mine... Gears wouldntve taken any more time to do since they must come off the differential anyways!

I was quoted 250 labor (including installing new driveshaft) from a very reputable guy.
