  • different m5 redline for gear swap with new gears?

yea i just swapped out my 3.23s fr a 3.42 lsd axle. i dont have it recalibated, but it really doesnt bother me, is that a bad idea? also my real question....whats the deal with my shift point? i know the auto needs those to be fixed but i got an m5, i just want to know if i should be shifting higher or lwer than the stock redline?? thanx

why not shift at the stock redline (or a little before to be ahead of the dreaded tach lag)?

i usually do but if the autos need to have their shift points changed why dont the m5s? i understand w can sift whenever we want but should dd m new gearing make it so that i need to shift before or aftr the redline?

Autos need to be recalibrated because they are shifted electronically, therefore the computer needs to know its dealing with a different final drive ratio. Since in your case you are the computer, then recalibrate yourself and shift at the same point you did before, only difference is you will be shifting at a slower mph. Same RPM. The motor is still peaking hp at about 52-5300 rpm, why would you change?
