  • engine or tranny mount- you tell me 3.4 V6

I have a clunk when pressing on accel just initially, i can duplicate it when holding brake down and in drive pressing on gas. I replaced the driveshaft with a single pc unit and the seal where the tranny was leaking hoping this would solve the problem but its still there, so i had my wife hold brake, press gas and I watched what the engine did. it lifts towards the cowl, doesn't twist but lifts up at the back of the engine, this is causing tranny to shift and bang on floor, I need to know a quick way to tell if its the tranny mount or engine mounts, i think if it was the engine mounts it would twist. makes me think tranny. Any help here???

Sounds like you're transmission mount, can you tell if the rubber piece on the mount is still there? Or if its just on bare metal, is everything bolted down right? Have you hit any severe potholes for that to happen recently?

Im leaning alot more towards the transmission mount but I would need to know in what condition it's in.

trans mount. check to see if you have any bolts holding it in still, check to see if the stock rubber one is sheared off, etc...what pontiac nino said.

easy fix and not too expensive either.

Yeah, that's almost definitely a tranny mount...especially if it is coming up and hitting the drivetrain tunnel.

yes the actual mount is still there, thanks for the replies, its all bolted in, the only thing i haven't doen is put a prybar between the crossmember and the mount and tried to pry it up to see if the rubber is separated, i'm thinking thats what is is. i'll have it on jackstands this weekend:)
