alright this doesnt pertain to my firebird but i figured u guys might know whats up any way...........alright i tore my jeep down got my transmission rebuilt and put a 350 in it...now everything works fine except the trans seems to not be workin.. when i pull the transmission(ITS AN AUTOMATIC BY THE WAY)manually all the way forward its in park and the wheels lock, however when i click it down one it rolls forwards and backwards which fine it could be neutral however, Reverse, Drive, 2nd, and Low does the same just rolls forward and backwards when you push, i dont have fluid in the trans i dont think thats the problem since im not driving it, but im concerned why the trans doesnt lock up in any gear to only roll one direction....any ideas did the trans shop screw up the rebuild or is this normal

if i remember... it is possible for the transmission to spin one way or the other unless it is receiving input from your motor.

right... you know when cup cars spin around their motors actually spin backwards when they're traveling in "reverse"

my jeep wont movie still, i put fluid it and put a load on the tranny from the engine....do you think the transfluid just needs to pump through the tranny and go through everything torque converter, gears all that good stuff...i kno i need to add more tranny fluid but havent ran the thing for more then a minute so it didnt really get a chance to cycle....so the question is would the fact that the fluid hasnt had along time to pump through it causing this?

It needs to be full of fluid for the transmission to work, otherwise you'll just roll since the torque converter is a viscus coupling to the transmission and no fluid means you're only spinning what's attached to the flexplate.
