  • lightweight flywheel

has anybody used this light weight fly wheel at fttp for $359.10. if im not mistaken, that would gain a lot of performance, but wouldnt it be less street reliable or not even streetable at all?

Quick revs = difficult to drive.

thats not the major concern. I thought the way our engine was balenced was the reason why lightweight flywheels are not a good idea.

Not to mention if you have a manual its VERY difficult to drive and youll stall out quite often.....but for racing its great :D

Revs go up quicker.. revs fall alot quicker as well.

There is hardly any difference in the way you drive one, and it's not that much more difficult to drive. I've driven Volkswagens that had a 22lb flywheel lightened down to a 7lb, and I didnt have any problems driving it. The little 1.7 8v only had about 100 ft/lbs of torque and no electronic throttle. Half the people on here that diss lightened flywheels have never driven anything with one.

Not sure why you would stall out while driving one, but I guess its possible. Although you do trade quicker revs for quicker rev loss regardless.

SPEC has had one for a couple months, most venders advertise them now.

ok now i know the car was done today. and well the flywheel is ok but if you dont install it just right it isnt balanced so it vibrates really bad at higher rpms like 4k and above

would it be possible to take the flywheel to a machinist and get it ballanced or something? it's pretty rediculous to have to do that in the first place tho.

what tyoe of gains did you get? does it hurt daily driver ability?
and did you get it installed properly to stop the vibrations?
