Ok let me first say that i have searched this and couldnt find a direct answer. I have a 96 a4 with 3.08 gears. I want to upgrade to 3.42 with lsd. I was looking over modifications and it said that i couldnt use the 3.42's because i have a 2 series differential and i would have to have a 3 series. So does that mean i have to upgrade everything when i change gears? Someone please explain this to me as i am clearly lost. Thanks for the help.

It means you have to upgrade your differential to a 3 series. I take it you'll be getting a torsen lsd which is a 3 series so you'll be fine.

O ok so as long as i get the lsd i am ok and i can get the gears. Well i guess it doesnt matter then. Thanks for clearing that up. i bought my lsd on ebay (buy it now) for $145 shipped, and its in almost perfect condition.
