  • Which brand gears?

Hi Guys, I'm in process of building a new 10 bolt rear and have the dilema which brand of gears (Strange/Moser/Motive/OEM) to go with.Definitely do not want to deal with a noisy rear.Currently have 3.23 with open Diff. Also can not decide whether to go with 3.24 or stick with 3.23. The car is only street/highway driven and never raced.
So far have a powdercoated housing and a Torsent-T-2r from Sam Strano (505$).Thhinking to put Moser axels too.
    Thanks for your help.

With 3.42 or 3.23 from my experience, any of those brands will treat you righ as long as they are setup properly and will not whine.

Thanks Matt, I will probably go again with 3.23. At least this will save me the hassle of recalibrating the sp.

If the car is never raced I do not see a benefit of having 3.42s... I know when I'm on the highway for 3+ hours I wish I had my 3.23s back heh.

Also, GM makes Motive gears, they are nice gears. That is what I put in my car and they do not make a sound... just have to make sure the person who installs them knows what they are dong.

Because if you have 3.08's you have an open diffy which sucks in the rain and snow. So to get a LSD you have to do a gear swap.

I did my swap more for the LSD for safety in the rain and snow.

Not all motive gears are GM. But I would recommend OEM because they are supposed to be the strongest.

Thank you all guys. I also think Motive OEM 3.23 will be the best solution. It might take a while before I complete that whole project, but will try post some pcs. when it's ready. Thanks
