  • Torque Converter ?

Hey guys whats up. I'm writing a research paper on basically how a car works and performance stuff you can do to it. I'm at the transmission section and i'm talking about torque converters. I understand the basic concept of a torque converter that it disconnects the engine from the transmission while it switches gears. But when people are talking about 2500-2700 stall etc... what exactly are they talking about. I have an idea but i want to be exact. Thank You

It's the RPM range at which the converter actually hooks up. The smaller the diameter of converter, the higher the stall speed. A higher stall speed will launch your car at a higher RPM giving you more rear wheel torque. Our's are lock up converters, so they mechanically lock in at a lower RPM range in 4th gear.
