  • Transmission Filter Seal

The Haynes book tells me to just use a screwdriver to pull the seal out. I did that but, only the rubber came off (the metal part is still in there). Any ideas on how to get this out??? HELP FAST please.

use the screwdriver to pry the edge of the seal away from its housing a bit. then use a hammer and a screwdriver to drive that side of the seal INTO the housing. the seal should turn sideways and you can easily remove it.

i believe a 3/4" socket can be used to drive the new seal into place. the socket keeps the seal from turning sideways.

Did your new filter come with a seal?

When I replaced my tranny filter we used the old seal... dad said it was better than the one that came with the new filter.
