  • Whats needed 3.23 to 3.42s?

I searched but i didnt find a definate answer...

Since im going to be installing the LSD i might as well get some gears.

Ive decided to go with 3.42s... what else is needed other than the gears?

I already have the gasket, and the oil.

The jump from 3.23 to 3.42 really isn't worth it. You probably wont even notice a difference. I went to 3.73's and I only gained .3 in the 1/4. The only thing I really noticed was the LSD. But the other part you will need for a gear change/ diff change will be a diff rebuild kit. It comes with all new bearings, shims and seals for the rear axle. Even the gasket. I wouldn't advise doing this yourself. If the gears are set wrong then they will whine. The kit is about $100

Just buy a complete rear from a 93-97 manual V8. Not only do you get the 3:42's and LSD but you upgrade to disc brakes too.

You will need the e-brake cable in addition to the rear. Swapping rears is a lot easier than swapping gears.
