• If you have different gears, but no PCM prog.

I was just wondering if you can list your gears and what you originally had and your shift points now. They should be lower then redline if you didn't get it reprogrammed. I'm wondering how much lower so I can work out an equation. Thanks.

Are you looking for A4's only?

Regardless..
Before:3.23's
After:3.73's
I have my shift light set @ 5,200RPM so by the time I react I shift around ~5,400RPM or
~5,500.

Yes please. I just want to see how much the shift points move down from 6K with various gear combos. Thanks.

do you want for an A4?

on my M5 I shift when ever I feel like it

first gear I take it to ~5400
second I shift at ~5200
third i shift at 5300
4th I shift at ~5200

probable not too useful I run no exhaust which changes my peak HP and torque numbers and thus my shift points.

I'm looking for WOT shifts for A4s. I'm just trying to see if some formulas I have are correct.

Ill get it to you today or tonight. About my SCU2000, Dont mount it right next to the edge of the hood. When you wash your car it will get wet and stop working for a few days until it dries out and your car wont shift into 2nd. I got it wet again and unplugged it early this week. Im just too lazy to plug it back in.

Here you go:

from 3.08 Open to 3.42 LSD

1-2: between 5300-5400
2-3: consistently at 5400
3-4: 4900 ( I only got one good try at this shift, being that its over 100 mph )

I think Dom is trying to work out the actual formulas and not just find out what the RPMs are at.

I spoke with JET one time.
Here are the differences.
Mine came with stock 308 gears.
I'll list the percentage that the speedo is off.
308's to 323's 5%
308's to 342's 10-11%
308's to 373's 17-18%
308's to 410's 25%
I went from 308's to 323's so my speedo is off about 5%
My shift points for my auto are the following:
1 to 2 upshift at 5800 rpm's
2 to 3 upshift at 5500 rpm's
3 to torque converter lock up 5200 rpm's
Each shift I lose about 300 rpm's
I would love to see what times I would run if I could use the entire rpm.
Again, lets go back to the percentage that I am off, 5%
5800 rpm max shift point 1 to 2
5800 x 5% is 290
So I lose 290 rpm per gear.
See above shift points per gear.
Does it make sense what I am saying? I know what I mean and I am hoping I am conveying what I mean

James, you had 4.10s and 3.73s with no programming right? Long time ago? So it shifted sooner, it didn't smack the rev limiter?

I was trying to figure out the exact rpm at which it would shift when getting numerically higher gears. Since it shifts by mph, which now is incorrectly higher, then it should shift sooner.

So let's take the extreme case 3.08 to 4.10:

1-2 should be at 6000x.75=4500rpm

Is that when it shifted when you had 4.10s? I had that number in the beginning and was trying to see if it's actually that low. That shifts just as you're getting into the powerband.

I remember when I had 3.42s with 3.08s pcm it would shift at redline. But my trans was slipping so I needed some numbers from people who have a working A4.

Looks like you're all losing some power when not adjusting the PCM. Missing out on the high RPMs.

Thanks for the replies.

Yup, I ran 410's n/a
I am glad you know what I am talking about, sometimes my explainations sound good in my head :D but not on the computer
It shifted much sooner but never hit a rev limiter in a gear, except speed limiter.
On top of all my mods I am trying to run a slightly taller tire to finally use my entire rpm range for power.
I tried the jet scu but could not get it working. I spent many times on the phone with their tech's.
Taller tires can compensate so that seems the best solution for me.
I don't want to switch computers because of my custom reprogrammed computer

I have a question about the larger tires. You said that the larger tires help to achieve a more accurate speedo, which sounds true, but does that address the shift points at all? The ratio between the engine and tire RPM is still incorrect in the computer, so won't it still shift early?
