• kinda wondering bout my tranny.....

ok, going from 1st to 2nd... if i shift from about 300 RPM b4 redline, i literally have to wait for the tranny to slow down to go to second, otherwise it grinds.... BAD.... i know this cant be normal. so whats the general opinion? Synchro's ? time to change the Lube?

no clue... although i can remember that it is normally cheaper to just replace the transmission than to pay the labor cost of a new synchro.

does it also pop out of second?

Nope as far as popping out.... never, i just cant take 1st all the way to red line if i intend to shift fast... otherwise, grindage

I'm having the exact same problem. A rebuild could cost 300-500 so a new trans is the best option. Search on Ebay, there is some salvage yard in FL that has like a half dozen of them.
Current Mods: SS Rims, CPR Boxed LCAs, Whisper Lid, SLP Underchin Ram Air, Pro 5.0 Shifter, 235/60/15 BFG DRs, Monster Tach w/ shift light, posi w/3.23

Future Mods: Ultra-Z hood, 4.10s, Y-pipe back exhaust, !CAT, Battery Relo, Custom programming

Ummmm, I disagree. I know one of our guys I think got his tranny used for like $400. But I could be wrong. Im starting to need a new one.

I doubt its your syncro, its probally your blocker ring for 1st-2nd.
Blocker ring lets your gears move into position. It slows down the shaft so your syncro can move into posistion. Its not slowing stuff down so thats why its grinding into gear.

Blockers rings are 1 of the 4 things you always place in a tranny rebuild.
If your shifter was popping out of gear then it would be your syncro.
