  • Does 1LE driveshaft really work?

I just took the part number off this web page (10085375) and went to gmpartsdirect.com to see how much shipping would be. Anyway.
This is what the site said:
    "DESCRIPTION: ALUMINUM DRIVE SHAFT
This lightweight racing aluminum drive shaft has been developed for use with the 1993-1997 Firebird/Camaro with MM6 transmission."

    What is the MM6 trans?
Is this like manual 6 spd or something?
Does anybody know if it works with an auto?

I always thought it would work just find, but this kind of changed my opinion.

    Thanks.

IF it's the correct one for autos, then it's good for yrs 82-02. But not that they would want you to know that

They're only going to say that it's for M6s for liability reasons, so if you snap the driveshaft on your automatic car, they can say "Told you so!!!".

Yes, it really works. Any 1-piece steel or aluminum driveshaft from 82-02 (excluding stuff for 12 bolts) will fit any v6 car.

....and still be slower then my old 3.4L ;)

I woudl look for one used first, those 1LEs ain't cheap, and there are 1 piece aluminum driveshafts in ls1, for like $125 on the net.

Either way if you are still running the stocker 2-piece drivesahft, dump it and get a aluminum one or at least a steel one for $25.

It shoudl work, all drivesahfts 82-02 are interchangable, hell most the rear drivetrain components are. I put a torque arm off an 88 Camaro on my 94 when I broke the stock one.(I walked in, and there was jsut one lenaing against the wall, didn't have to pull it or anything ;) , $10 too.... )

True, true. All third and fourth gen driveshafts are interchangeable.
