  • Transmission ?

I am going to do v6 to v8 swap and I have heard that the auto transmissions are the same. I have an automatic 95 so will the engine bolt right to it? Just wondering before I buy the transmission too. Any help is appreciated!

I was going to do the same thing too and I did a little bit of research. The LT1 automatic has a bigger bell housing that goes up to like 12" and the V6 bell housing goes up to 10". I also asked around if you could take off the bell housing and exhange it for the Lt1, but it is stuck very good.
I gave up on doing the swap cause it would've cost me a lot. I would rather prefer getting the supersix package and get my computer reprogrammed,
and get close to the same horsepower to the Lt1 at a rather cheap price(imagine killing a Lt1 with a NA V6). I don't want to bring your hopes down man.

Doing a V8 swap is going to cost you around 3 grand. The thing about having a 6 cylinder engine is that it's always going to be a 6. Sure you can make it faster than V8's but they can make their's faster than ours with hardly any mods. They also sound 100 times better. But if you take pride in a V6 beating a V8 like a lot of the people on this board have to, including myself, than stick with the 6. If you can't ever see yourself being satisfied and can afford doing the swap, do it. If I had the money I would do it.

Just because ppl say its going to cost 3gs arnt for sure positive its all where you get your stuff from.. Look for a tranny on Cz28 i got mine off that for 450$ and the engine is costing me 1050$ from a junk yard and the radiator i got off Cz28.com also for 90$ so it aint all that bad

again I have seen this done before but it took some custom work. custom work = $$$$$$.

the only thing I recall giving problems was the bellhousing. If I remember correctly they had a custom bellhousing fabricated with the different bolt patern to mount the 6speed to the v6. Damn I would love to have that.
          MPG out the friggin roof!

here is why they dont line up:
