My rear main seal and tranny seal are both leaking, not really bad but enough to notice when underneath the car and i was planning on getting it fixed soon. But today on my way home from work it sounded like my drive shaft was slamming up and down. Is this possible? The only weird thing about this is that the last time i heard this was when I was raining hard, just like today. Dose any of this sound right?

Ok just came in from underneath my car and played around a little bit and i noticed that my u joint closest to the tranny has a small amount of play in it up and down, wearas the diff side has no play at all. could this be my problem?

Do you have posi? 99's and newer posi's are torsen units, and mine clunks like a mother. It happens mainly when slowing down or getting back into the gas after a turn. I had it looked at by some tranny/rear end specialists, and they said it's normal. If you can rule out a u-joint, a suspension component (like torque arm), or tranny, then I wouldn't worry about it too much.1999 Y87 Camaro<br />Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust

Im having the same problem. And I have had my car on a lift with the tires spinning in 5th gear probably at about 30mph, and I cant see anything. Of course just my luck it wont do it on the lift, only when Im driving. But mine is a REALLY loud clunk, sounding like it is hitting the floorboard. I think it is my stock 2 peice driveshaft. But anyways, I am getting it looked at. I hope I can have it looked at. It is starting to REALLY get annoying.
