  • Going from 3.08 to 3.42?

I've been reading up on this and I want to know if there is any high end accleeration lost. Say from 50 mph I floor it...would I be accelerating as fast with the 3.42s as I would with the 3.08s?

I do most of my racing with people starting off at pretty high speeds...I know the 3.42s will give me a damn good launch off the line but the high end is what I'm worried about.

Overall, everyone says that 3.42's will pull better, period. No matter where in the RPM range. This seems to be the consesus (sp?), and there has not yet been any evidence that i've seen to go against this.

with that small of a difference in gear sizes you won't be able to tell a difference, the shift points are a little different, by a few mph...

Do it... won't noticeably hurt your top end, but you'll get more bottom.

Oh and Ellik, what's a torsion differential? ;)

Sweet ... ok I'll go 3.42 then... what about recalibrating the speedometer? How much of a PITA is it? I know you can buy a little box that you wire into your PCM to aid in recalibrating it, but how would I go about actually doing that?

the JetSCU comes with wiring diagrams... nothing too complicated. my speedo is off just a little bit but I actually like the "incorrect" shift points..... downshifts faster when I step on the gas.

Ravin-sig updated... hope that cleared things up for you.... ;) how do you like the Ravin muffler? going to 3" all the way back when i do headers soon and considering ravin as an option.
