When driving my car it becomes hard to "just cruise" because my car is inbetween shifts. I can only describe it like driving a manual car, being in third gear when you should be in second, the car stutters until it reaches a suitable speed. I have to go atleast 3/4 throttle to get the dam thing to down shift and by then it takes off like Im drag racing in city traffic(what a pain in the A$$).
I notice it most inbetween the 3rd and 4th gear changes, around 40-50mph, roughly 1,500-2K RPMS. The car feels really sluggish off the line but I dont notice the hard 1-2 & 2-3 shifts, and the RPMS dont jump up to 5K RPMS. The times that the slippage is most prevalent is when taking turns and accelerate out of the turn.
Are these the signs that the tranny is on the way out or is there another problem at hand? Im gonna check the throttle position sensor, but Im not sure what else it could be. I am also getting horrible gas mileage and Im just wondering if the slipping tranny with contribute to that or if that can be a symptom of something else?
Thanks
Shane
