  • changing my brakes and my axle pulled out!!!

I just bought this car last week, i know its a v6 post, but i had a v6 that i rolled about 2 months ago, then i upgraded to a 93 z28. anyway, i pulled the right rear caliper off and went to pull off the disc and the axle slid with it. "what the H*ll!!" i says. then i take off the rear end cover and the magnet is covered in metal goop. i look closer and the axle pin is missing from the axle, i look even closer and my limited slip clutches are no where to be found. what the h*ll. so now what do i do? from chevy the spider gears and the clutches come all together in the housing for 600 bucks but isnt this the same thing? AHHAAHA. Sorry, that sucks major nuts. It could just be the differential -- you can get the SLP T/O unit for $100, if you can find it or if they have it in stock.
You'll need new c-clips, maybe new bearings (though the ones that come on the SLP diff will be new enough), and if your ring and pinion are chewed up, then, well, you'll need new those! At this point you might want to consider just getting a whole new rear ($300 locally, check your message boards).

    BTW don't drive on it.

Yeah man, try finding a whole rear-end. Gears/LSD new are $300, then you gotta add in labor and install kit. But a lot of places/people on boards and eBay sell full rearends for like $300. So for the same price you could get discs in the back, a working rear, and probably something you could tackle on your own w/o having to pay a shop for a gear install

now that the limited slip clutches are gone, do i have an open rear end like i did on my 3.4 or is it locked? cause i did a burnout and looked at it and there was two stripes, but i don't know if they were alternating or not
