I am wondering, do rear gears affect dyno numbers if the car's computer isn't programmed for them? say, a car went from 3.23's or 3.42's up to 3.73's and didn't reprogram the car's computer. will this make the dyno graph take false readings, since the gears simulate torque multiplication. would torque be off? and since hp is dependent on torque, would hp numbers be off?

I can't answer for torque, but I know the hp will read lower with the higher numerically gear ratio, no matter if the computer was programmed for them or not.

Lower gears (numerically higher) will soak up a bit of HP on the dyno. But since the machine just takes the HP reading, uses the RPM signal you give it, and make the torque erading from that, you don't have to reprogram to get accurate numbers.www.fullthrottlev6.com THE SOURCE!
