Not 100% sure, but it could be your cat. converter (your exhaust).. if so your quite lucky.

other wise your tranny is going. check the fluid to see if it's darker than normal.

    hope this helps.

Im accually starting to think that something in my new exhaust is rubbing or lose. My Transmission seems to be fine easy to shift no problems getting it into gear. Do you think that if my exhaust was installed wrong or has losened up from drive could cause this??
because when i go over bumps the tump come from that area.
      thanks

I have the same thump when I go over bumps. But, I know for a fact that my o2 sensor is making rattling noises, and I am attributing it to that.

I do know that the thump is coming from the exhaust, because I once tightened the rubber hangers on the exhaust with hose clamps, and the clunk went away.

Do you have a rattling sound when you are just going forward normally? I do, and its coming from the O2 sensor.

I had a similar clunking noise once, and I accidentally found it. I was under my rear suspension checking the diff fluid, and I noticed a dent in the muffler. I pushed the muffler up and the dent matched perfectly with the panhard rod. I tried to figure out a way to fix it, but I couldn't. I'm just glad to know that it isn't anything major.
And my catylitic conv is rattling like crazy. Waiting on a warm day to finally weld in my new CATCO.
