The numbers I posted are based on mathematical "fact"! The results are based on gears & engine RPMs, not tranny type or engine type. These numbers will only be accurate with automatics if the "stock" torque converter is used. Any "speed vs RPM" calculator you use will produce identical numbers. The key is to be sure your tire diameter is perfect. Under/Over inflated tires can affect MPH up to 3 MPH! A slipping clutch will affect these numbers. Keep in mind also that our gauges (especially the tach, temp, & speed) are inaccurate and VERY SLOW! Use Autotap to record RPM & speed. Review your logs to get more accurate RPM & speed data.

Try these calculators out... they will produce the same numbers...

Where did you find the gear ratios for the T5? On f-body.org in the tecnhical database it has the ratios listed as:
      1st 2.95
      2nd 1.94
      3rd 1.34
      4th 1.00
      5th 0.74

      I believe those gear ratios are for the 3rd gen V8 (305 & 350) T5's.

Check this out...this is for the 3.8L.

because in my 5 speed.. 1st gear brings me to 30 at redline..

and 2nd gear brings me to 60 at redline.....

        this is with 3.23's.

        with 255/40/16 tires

Are you talking about redline or rev limiter??? I hit my rev limiter at 30 in 1st, 60 in 2nd and so on but if I could raise the limiter 200rpms then I bet I could hit 33mph in 1st and 63mph in 2nd.. I have to agree with Stephan that the 3.73's a big gear that wine but with a power adder I like them.. 3.42's are the best all around gear.. I also have to agree with Stephan that the 2.73's suck in low rpm's becuase I drove his car a couple of times when the blower was down and it sucked off the line normally accelerating but the top end is freaking awsome.. In the 1/4 though its hurting with those gears.. when you get the 3.42's in it all I can say is hold on tight.. above 3000rpm the virus pulls so freaking hard the the 2.73's and the blower..

You are probably right about it being the 3rd gen numbers. They probably found them for 3rd gens and just assumed it was the same for 4ths and slapped them in the 4th gen tech database.

Thanks for the link and correct info.

1998 silverbird, our tachs/speedometers are retarded, and don't catch up in first gear, wot. i bang the limiter at about 5300 indicated, then it jumps up to 6000 where it SHOULD have been in the first place.
