This past December I was going to swap out my differential and 3.08 gears to 3.42 gears and the take-off LSD.
I already have the LSD and the gears but the concern I have was getting the computer fixed to the new gearing. I called several dealers and most said they couldn't do it. One said they would have to have my car down for three days since they would have to take the PCM out, send it away for programming, and then re-install.
I found two PCMs online, I don't know whether or not they are already Y87s. One shop says the ECM (I don't know if he is just calling the PCM a ECM) from a 95 3.8 will work in my 96 3.8.
Basically, my question is do I need to get the same year PCM and if it isn't programmed yet, is there another programming option I can send it to other than the dealership? Thanks guys!
