How can you tell if the TC is going bad? Under acceleration I have what feels like hesitation or actually a flat spot mid way thru the RPM range.....the RPMs keep moving but the car feels liek the acceleration has slowed fo just a fraction of a second.

I've noticed this too, I have no idea what it is, but I'll know after my new torque converter is in whether or not it is the converter.-Eric
2002 Navy Blue Camaro...Striped and Stalled. 35th Anniversary SS wheels
Best ET: 15.384 @ 88.32 on street tires
Project Whitney: Goal, 14.0 1/4 by summer 2008.

Roughly how much is it to replace the TC? Is it worth going to a performance one for a 3.4L?Joel
God is my copilot, but Satan has his foot on the gas!
94 3.4L AutoCamaroRagtop w/MSD ignition,Accelcoilpacks,K&N FIPK,BMR SFC&STB,3\"Catco w/3\"catbackSS muffler,JetStage 2,HomemadePIAAheadlightconversion http://www.geocities.com/cardiac1968

How would a TC go bad, there are very few moving parts. Basicly there are two fan like things facing eachother and the case if filled with fluid. So unless there is a leak, how could it go bad. As far as I know they are pretty rock solid, right?
Well I guess one of the internal parts could have bent, but that would have been a lot of force right?

Actually, a torque converter can do a lot of damage to the tranny if it goes bad. Mine went bad in my IROC, when it did, it damaged the sprag, input housing shaft, and the band. I took out the torque converter and it was in really bad shape, once the TC goes out, theres a chain reaction that goes with it like with mine. Cost me a couple hundred in parts, but its worth it now because its like a new tranny. If your car makes a vibration in the gears, thats a sign of the TC too. The TC cost me about 100 bucks, but thats for a 700R4 and I dont know how much it would cost for a V6. BUT, if its not the TC you have a problem with, it may be the sprag in the tranny. That can also cause the hesitation and other things as well.2003 Nissan 350Z Touring Coupe, Daytona Blue, Frost leather interior, navigation, 18 inch wheels, M6, fully loaded, intake, crank pulley.

Previous cars:
1991 Mustang (347)
2002 RS Camaro
1985 IROC-Z (305)
1994 Camaro convertible V6
