What would be the symptoms of a broken torque converter, or a torque converter in the process of breaking? Today when i was driving i noticed my RPM's are higher than they should be at the higher speeds. Ex. normally at 2000 rpms on the highway i'm doing 69 MPH, today to get to 69 MPH i had to do about 2400 rpms.(my overdrive is still working) So i started experimenting accelerating in 3rd to see if my rpms dropped from the torque converter locking up and it didn't. Anyone have any thoughts?

perhaps your verter is not locking up..
At a 70mph cruise.. if you give it gas do the rpm's softly go up a little as if the verter is unlocked or do they remain solid and slowly increase as your speed increases?Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP

This is exactly how it is. My next question would be how bad is this for my vehicle, or is this only going to give me bad gas mileage at higher speeds?New Car: 2004 GTP Comp G (Test Vehicle) 13.936@99.32
Mods: Cylinder Filter,No Mufflers, 3.3\"
Old Car: 2000 Formula 13.124 @ 106.01 with 2.73\'s
Other Car: 1993 Firebird 16.1@83

Well its not good.. you need to figure out WHY its not locking up.
Do you have enough trans fluid?
Try resetting the PCM.Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP

It does have enough tranny fluid, and i reset the PCM and it still isn't locking up. I recently had my transmission casing replaced, is it possible the shop hooked up my torque converter wrong?New Car: 2004 GTP Comp G (Test Vehicle) 13.936@99.32
Mods: Cylinder Filter,No Mufflers, 3.3\"
Old Car: 2000 Formula 13.124 @ 106.01 with 2.73\'s
Other Car: 1993 Firebird 16.1@83

it was working then, i'm just thinking maybe they did something that caused it to slowly go bad (not sure if it's possible, just a thought). I switched cars with a friend so he can bring it someplace to have it looked at.New Car: 2004 GTP Comp G (Test Vehicle) 13.936@99.32
Mods: Cylinder Filter,No Mufflers, 3.3\"
Old Car: 2000 Formula 13.124 @ 106.01 with 2.73\'s
Other Car: 1993 Firebird 16.1@83
