• Clunk in driveline (U-joints?)

So what do you guys think of this...

car in first, let the clutch out, slight hesitation sort of a small clunk then car goes..

Feels as if clutch is grabbing and there is a slight play in the drivetrain.

Best ways to test for this?

car parked on ground, grab driveshaft with car in neutral and try to spin it?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, that is about the best way to check the u-joints. Also check the trans mount.

Its not the mount, its only 3 months old, poly, and I have no play in my shifter. I'll be kicking and screaming if it was my mount.

I need to get me another 1LE one...

the back one isnt that hard to replace. take off teh straps that hold it in. you might need to press the joint into teh driveshaft however. if you do, take off the rear straps adn pull the driveshaft from the tranny. it might leak some fluid. then press the new u joint into the driveshaft and reinstall.. its not too bad, but not simple.. good luck man

Do not get the "lifetime" u-joint ... they are junk. If you can get ones that are greasble trough the caps. U-Joint are very very easy.

Get dana/spicer...... worth double the cost of autocrap u-joints.

Trust me .... my 79 powerwagon with 35's has proven this.

                Good luck.
