• Engery Suspension Poly Transmission mount

Ok so today I just put in a Energy Suspension Transmission mount in place of my stock unit. Lets just say I hate it. It really feels like my car is going to fall apart.

First off it vibrates through my whole car.
Second as a press on and off the gas it sounds like my frame is being torn apart as I hear some creak underneath my feet.

Is the 1LE mount any better. My stock one broke, but maybe I should just put in a replacement of the stock one so I can ride in a little comfort.

Let me know what you think.

Poly = hello vibrations.
1LE = hello chirping 2nd.

You'll be MUCH happier with the 1LE. I wouldn't dare do a Poly, although some have talked of a way to modify the metal plate that is on it for less vibrations. Save your poly for the suspension, not the mounts. Are you hearing a poly squeek or a metal crunch?

Heck I was chirping second with no problem before. It almost feels like I lost power because there are so much vibrations. I probably try to get a 1LE and try to put it in next week.

At first with my poly one change would actually jump out of the cup holder..

give it time.. let it break in a little.

BTW, did you enlagen the hole to fit the mount correctly? If you did not you could be putting LOTS of bad stress on motor mounts and other things.

I put mine in last year and regret it. At first it vibrated like hell for the first few days. It gradually smoothed out but I just got used to the feel. My mom drove in my car for the first time a while after the bushing was installed and she said that my car feels like a truck. Everyone that first gets in my car thinks there is something wrong with the car. I am totally oblivious to it now, but they are worthless on the street and down right annoying . I don't know about the 1LE.

Yup, break in period is a must.
I got mine installed and I thought it was unbearable!!!
I took it on a 500 mile round trip.
After that it was much more tolerable.

I have done both, I got the poly drove it like that for a week or so and just didn't like the extra noise so I figured what the heck 1le is cheap so I'll try that, much nicer I still get that little bit of extra feel but most importantly my shifter doesn't flop around anymore.. (of course for your automatic guys this doesn't really matter)..

btw 1le isn't as smooth as the stock mount you still get a little extra noise and vibration over stock but you will get used to it quick....

also for any manual guys reading this and thinking about either one, it will lower your tranny about half an inch and could making shifting with the stock shifter a little difficult. When I did it the shifter was hitting the console on the 2nd and 4th shifts.. of course that just made me go buy a hurst billet plus.. :D

Your right about the bushing lowering the tranny. Mine dropped at least a good inch. I wonder if that throws off the pinion angle from the transmission throught the driveshaft to the rear axle? If you had an adjustable torque arm, it could be compensated for.

yeah I am pretty sure that it does, it adds some vibration, I think if I ever get a chance to ditch my stock 2 piece driveshaft I can fix that problem.. so far no problems though..

all of the above. i too put in the poly and hated the vibration but loved the taught feel. the 'break in' period is nothing more than you getting used to it. it feels just as crass two months later as it does when you first install it. if you do a muffler job around the same time as the tranny mount, you could ask the muffler shop to modify your pipe hangers around the tranny, that helps eliminate a lot of the vibration.

i took it out 2 months after i put it in and replaced it with 1le. that was over a year ago. to overcome the drop, if you're going to keep the stock shifter, you can put about a 1/8 inch thickness steel spacer with roughly the contact area between the mount and the crossmember. it raises the whole thing just a bit more than enough for your shifter to clear the console in 2/4/rear.

overall much better this way, but there is still unpleasent sloppyness in the drivetrain when i drop the hammer. maybe a stronger torque arm would help this out??
