I put in a lsd rear with 3.42 gears and it took 20 hours to install, now there is some knocking noise from the rear like something is hitting the floor on both sides whenever i go over a bump. I double checked everything to make sure i didnt forget to tighten anything. The car is so much quicker its the best mod ive done yet, but those noises are killing me. Anyone have a similar experience?

This is driving me crazy. If im driving on a smooth road and hit little bumps, nothing, normal size bumps and i get this clunking noise from the rear. It was find before the rear end swap, but now its horrible. its coming from both sides of the rear.its almost sounds as if someone was hitting the floor board with a hammer. I hope its not my driveshaft,it was fine before the swap, the only time i touched the driveshaft was when i unbolted the torque arm and driveshaft from the old rear and let them rest on a piece of wood on the ground. I didnt even completely take them off, so how could it be the driveshaft? Its not the bump stops. The shocks are as tight as i could get them from up top.96 Polo Green Camaro

Slp Cai,Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back,Catco cat,3.42 Posi rear, KMC Floss Rims 275/45/17 rear 235/45 front

double check all your connections, make sure they are tight...
I suggest opening the hatch, climb inside and bounce in the cargo area.
I suggest loosening everythng, then rest the rear axle on jackstands, and retighten everything as the rear axle sits on jackstands with the weight of the car on the rear suspension. Also do it with some weight in the trunk, like a full tank and maybe your rear wheels to weigh the rear end down.
suggestions I have...
-Top shock mounts not tight.
-Springs rubbing the frame, not lined up straight
-exhaust hanger bumped(clank from exhaust)
Its not the drivesahft if you had drivesahft problems you would hear it all the time...-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251

Sometimes your suspension will make noise if you overtorque the bolts. My lcas make all kinds of ruckus because I overtorqued em, but I don't care because it wasn't easy to do, lol.\'99 SSM Camaro V6 M5
(mod list on cardomain site; too long to list here)
http://www.cardomain.com/id/v6cam99

Its not that... if your driveshaft was doing that it owuld have to be broken. Besides the torque arm protects it, and before even te torque arm woudl hit you woudl bottom out on the bumpstops, and even if your bumpstops were missing you woudl your rear woudl hit the frame before the driveshaft hit the tunnel,-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251

Check your LCA's. My bet is that they aren't tight enough or have backed off (happened to me) and everytime you hit that bump, its your control arms smacking into the chassis.-Mark (aim: Eredasx)-
Black 01 Bird. 3\" exhaust. Thanks alot for all the responses, i was really happy about doing the swap. My car isnt the same with the new rear, but just when everything is great something has to go wrong. Ill check out all my connections tomorrow. Thanks.96 Polo Green Camaro

Slp Cai,Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back,Catco cat,3.42 Posi rear, KMC Floss Rims 275/45/17 rear 235/45 front

my bet is that you've forgotten to tighten your connection on one end of your panhard bar.1998 Chevrolet Camaro L36 M5
1982 Toyota Celica Supra 7MGTE project car - FOR SALE

\"I find the most sensual part of the woman is the boobies.\" - Zap Brannigan

Im pretty sur its the shocks, for some reason whenever i took them out and put them back in my rear end has been making this clunking noise. I checked all the connections last night and everything was fine. I have close to 80,000 miles on my shocks so im sure thats the problem. Its time for some new ones.96 Polo Green Camaro

Slp Cai,Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back,Catco cat,3.42 Posi rear, KMC Floss Rims 275/45/17 rear 235/45 front
