Getting a Spec II clutch installed. :-)

Yeap, the stock clutch is starting to give a little more than I'm willing to accept. So I went ahead and ordered a Spec II. I have read and heard several people saying the wear in time. Mainly I've heard run 500 to 1000 miles really easy, and run to about 4000 miles with out getting on it to hard. Let me know what you all think. I know some about the drivetrain, but not much. It's an area that I'm still learning on. Cool thing though, the place I'm having it installed, well the speed shop. I'm good friends with the guy that owns the speed shop and also the mechanic that does the work that I'm not able to do, he's the only one I'll let touch my baby. :D I asked if I could watch and help them install it and he said no problem. But, please let me know what you guys think about the wear in time for the clutch, because when I get closer to the end of the wear in time, it's nitrous time :D

Funny thing, I too just ordered a Spec-II and Im paying $100 for my install at work (Chevy dealer). Guy I know and trust is doing it for me for cash [img]smile.gif[/img]

Happy Birthday to me. We'll post together and see how both our cars go. I only have 30k on my stocker and it's already slipping occasionally.

Well I have around 74,500 miles on mine. [img]tongue.gif[/img] Mainly highway driving though. It's been a good one, but I think I've went beyond it's power limits. :D Plus I'm going to be running nitrous soon, so I figured it was a great time to get the Spec II. Pretty cool we ordered it at about the same time. [img]graemlins/popcorn.gif[/img]

I would make sure you replace the rear main seal, pilot bearing and slave cylender why your down there. I own a spec 2 and its been good to me.

are you guys getting your flywheel resurfaced?

its pretty much a given to resurface ur flywheel when u swap ur clutch....and for about $30 ud be dumb not to

So how much does a rear main seal, pilot bearing and slave cylender cost? Also, how much more time am I looking at installing that stuff with the clutch?

I have decided to change the slave cylinder when I put in my new clutch, I'm not going to change my rear main seal, it's not leaking and my luck if i put another seal in there, it will probably leak, so I'll leave it be, but, is the pilot bearing part of the process of taking the clutch out and putting in a new one? If so, I'll go ahead and get a new one of them also.
