    IMO ebay is the best/cheapest place to buy things like gears and diffs.

    since u are looking at series 3 gears, u will need the gears, Limited slip differential, install kit plus installation

    Gears=~$150
    LSD=~$200-265
    Install kit=$70-120
    Installation=~$200-400

    yes it is absolutely worth it...it is a completely different car w/ gears

    personally i would go with the 3.73s

          I love my 3.73's. It's all preference. Justin loves his 4.10's but i do a ton of highway driving so i wanted to keep some of my highway milage, so i stuck to 3.73's. Some info on your car might help people give advice, what year, what trans. etc. if you have anything lower than a 3.23 then you are going to have to upgrade to a series 3 carrier. Which means you are going to have to get an abs tone ring as well. You are also going to need fluid, limited slip differential addative (if needed) as well as the install kit mentioned above, and someone who knows what they are doing to do the install. It's not easy at all.

          to fully answer your question... 4.10's are gonna give you more off the line, but you will be in higher rpm's (thus worse gas milage) than a 3.73.

            Also let us know what the primary use for the car is. Lots of drag racing? Lots of around town driving? Lots of highway? 3.73s and 4.10s will actually improve your milage around town slightly, and will cost you some on the highway.

              i have a 99 camaro with whisper air lid k&n filter magnaflow catback n cat in the mail as we speak

              i mostly drive around town but i live in the country so driving around town means 55-75mph with very few stops

              i do like to drag race and play aaround on the skid pad (autocross) but camaros could be one of the worse cars ever made for autocross, they r 2 heavy

              thx for thew help

                Hmm, actually everything I have ever read has said that 4th gen Camaro's are good autocross performers.

                A Vette weighs about the same and is a good autocross car.

                Anyway, there are issues with 3.73's and 4.10's, like your cruise control will probably not work anymore (there has been some reports of this with 3.73's and 4.10's, if that is of concern to you you may want to research that).

                Don't forget to include the cost of some sort of tuning afterwards because your speedometer will be off (substantially if you go 3.73's or 4.10's) and if you have an automatic you will need reprogramming for shift points.

                  if he uses hp tuners to recalibrate his car for the gear swap he should have no problem with his cruise control. It's when you use the speedo recalibrator chips that you can possibly run into problems. there are ones out there that make it so your cruis is still functional. It just depends on which chip you buy. There are many other options for recalibration as well, however i'm not very familiar with them cuz i've got a 3.4L

                    FWIW my cruise control has been a little screwy since the gear swap, just not something I'm too concerned with.

                          Not to jack the thread but I always wondered what actually came in the "gear install kit". Is it just like new bearings and races and sh!t or what?

                            theres alot of different levels of install kits i got the complete install kit....and it basically replaces everything inside your rearend besides axles and c-clips. it gives all new bearings,seals, shims, diff cover bolts, etc.

                            and in my opinion ud be crazy not to replace everything u can at the same time so u dont have to tear the rear end apart again
