people forget that our auto trannies are 3 gears + overdrive. Third gear is the same as fourth gear in a manual...1/1 ratio with the crank. Overdrive is a negative ratio. I think the A4 has a taller overdrive gear than the M5

I think 4th in the A4 is a .70:1 and 5th in the M5 is .73:1
